Breeders' Cup Releases Updated Mobile App Ahead of 2018 Breeders' Cup World Championships

Official Breeders’ Cup Mobile App to offer enhanced live streaming capabilities and real-time event details for a seamless user experience

LEXINGTON, Ky. (November 1, 2018) – Breeders’ Cup, one of Thoroughbred horse racing’s most prestigious international events, today announces an updated version of the Official Breeders’ Cup Mobile App, offering new and improved capabilities designed to provide fans worldwide with an integrated and immersive user experience. The renewed app is the latest of many digital developments and enhancements that Breeders’ Cup has introduced in recent years, demonstrating the brand’s unwavering commitment to providing fans with myriad opportunities to engage with Breeders’ Cup on their preferred platform.

Available for iOS and Android devices, the updated mobile app provides fans both on-site and remote with fundamental and timely information on the 2018 Breeders’ Cup World Championships, taking place on November 2 and 3 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. The Official Breeders’ Cup App is now available to download on the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store.

An extensive catalogue of information on the 14 championship races, including details on the competing horses and jockeys and all official race results, will be available for browsing on the app. Fans attending the World Championships will also benefit from venue-specific information, including driving directions, parking and transportation options, seating and walking maps, and a calendar of official Breeders’ Cup events.

New this year, app users will be able to enjoy Breeders’ Cup VR, a virtual reality and 360-degree broadcast that will provide live views from three main areas at Churchill Downs: the backstretch, paddock and Winner’s Circle. Hosted by racing expert Paul Espinosa, the show will include high-tech elements and features that allow viewers to monitor the horses while simultaneously receiving other pertinent visuals and information, including interviews, social media feeds, and live odds and entries. Among the broadcast’s innovative features includes a ground-breaking Computer Vision Zone that will automatically detect a horse within the user’s view and display data specific to that horse on their screen.

Additionally, the app will offer live streams of official Breeders’ Cup events, including the Breeders’ Cup Players’ Show, a horseplayer-focused broadcast hosted by a slate of prominent horse racing authorities and analysts that will show all 14 Championships races. Users will also enjoy increased live footage captured by the innovative Jockey Cam presented by Aston Martin, a helmet-mounted camera that debuted at the 2017 Breeders’ Cup World Championships and offers a first-person perspective of the races from participating jockeys.

“We’re pleased to present an updated version of our official Breeders’ Cup app, which we’ve designed with the modern-day fan in mind,” said Craig Fravel, president and CEO of Breeders’ Cup. “Whether through its comprehensive information library, timely push-notifications, or new livestreams and broadcast programs, the app ensures fans will have all the tools they need to make the most out of championship weekend.”

Fans can download the app now by visiting the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store. To learn more about the 2018 Breeders’ Cup World Championships and to purchase tickets, please visit www.breederscup.com/2018.
