O'Brien Dominates Pretty Polly Stakes Entries
Trainer Aidan O’Brien is responsible for half of the 12 still entered for Barclays Bank Ireland Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday, July 1, following the latest forfeit stage. O'Brien, who won the Group 1 last year with Misty For Me, has 2012 Epsom Oaks winner Was, Maybe, Up, Soon, Wonderful and Betterbetterbetter all still engaged.
British hopes could rely on I'm A Dreamer (David Simcock), Izzi Top (John Gosden) and Sea Of Heartbreak (Roger Charlton).
Dermot Weld confirmed Sapphire, who won the Group 3 Noblesse Stakes over 1m4f at Cork on her reappearance earlier this month, on target for Sunday's race. "I've been happy with Sapphire since her win at Cork and she is all set to run in the Pretty Polly. She is very well, " Weld said on Tuesday of the Moyglare Stud-owned four-year-old, all of whose four wins were achieved on yielding or soft ground.
Bible Belt and Aloof complete the possible field, though Aloof, Betterbetterbetter and Soon are all declared for a Listed race at Naas on Wednesday evening. The ground at the Curragh improved from Soft to Yielding on Tuesday. Another dry, humid day is forecast on Wednesday with the likelihood of some rain on Thursday.
The Pretty Polly Stakes is a Breeders' Cup Challenge race for the 2012 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf.
