  • Racing Background: He had no family in racing, but became smitten by the sport as a schoolboy and learned to ride at the age of 13. He spent school holidays working in the stables of Brian Swift and Jeremy Tree before turning down a place at Cambridge University in order to further his racing education ... He was initially employed by John Dunlop, staying for six years, before moving on to work as assistant to John Gosden for five years, including three in California. ... Is a frequent buyer at sales on both sides of the Atlantic. ...
  • Racing Career: In late 1993, Sheikh Mohammed asked him to join his Godolphin operation. His two years there coincided with Lammtarra winning both the Epsom Derby and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, not to mention numerous triumphs worldwide in major races with the likes of Balanchine, Moonshell, Vettori, Halling and Classic Cliche … In 1995 Sheikh Mohammed proposed setting Noseda up as a trainer in France, but Noseda turned down the offer due to his desire to train under his own name. With the Sheikh’s blessing, he went back to Hollywood Park in California in January of 1996 with 15 horses in his care ... Despite winning with his first runner and three of his next four starters, he failed to attract new owners and returned to Britain at the end of 1997 … He had the opportunity to buy the renowned Shalfleet Stables in Newmarket, from the retiring Paul Kelleway. Noseda has a staff of six that assists him with the operation … He made an immediate impact thanks to Wannabe Grand, who gave him his first Group 1 success when landing the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket in October 1998 and finished second in the following spring’s One Thousand Guineas (G1) … Had to wait until 2003 to add to his tally at the top level when Carry On Katie won the Cheveley Park Stakes and Balmont landed the Middle Park Stakes … Noseda earned his first Breeders' Cup victory with his first starter when Wilko captured the 2004 Breeders' Cup Juvenile ... Wilko was then turned over to Craig Dollase and shipped to Dollase’s base in Southern California … In 2006, he notched three British Group 1 wins, including his first-ever classic success when Sixties Icon won the St Leger. Araafa, who finish ninth in the Breeders' Cup Mile, also won both the St James's Palace Stakes (G1) and the Irish 2,000 Guineas (G1) ... 2007 brought two more Group 1 triumphs, courtesy of Soldiers Tale in the Golden Jubilee Stakes and Simply Perfect in the Falmouth Stakes ... Had to wait until 2009 for his next top level victory, when Fleeting Spirit, who had finished fourth in the ’08 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint, lifted the July Cup ... Additional top horses in 2009 include G2 winner Arabian Gleam, who is pointing for the Hong Kong Mile (G1) and G3 winner Strike the Deal, now a 4-year-old, who had previously finished fourth in the 2007 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf. ... Up until Oct. 18, 2009, he is in 16th place in the 2009 trainers' championship with 56 wins from 304 runners and $1.58 million in prize money.
