Lajos Kengye


  • Born: Sept. 7, 1948, in Budapest, Hungary
  • Residence: San Dimas, Calif.
  • Family: Two grown sons, Justin and Chris
  • Professional Background: Kengye came to the United States in 1969 ...  Owner and founder of LK Enterprises, established in 1972, which manufactures spare tank parts for the U.S. Army
  • Racing Background: Bought his first horse, Sweet Symmetry, the dam of Attila’s Storm, in 1998 and raced her three times before retiring her to the breeding shed
  • Breeding/Racing Operation: Attila's Storm, who is Sweet Symmetry’s top offspring to this point, is on target to make his third appearance in the Breeders' Cup Sprint after finishing fourth in 2005 and fifth in 2006 ... Sweet Symmetry also has a two-year-old colt by Cat Thief named Red Commander, a yearling by Cat Thief, and a weanling by Forest Wildcat, the same sire of Attila's Storm ... Sweet Symmetry had been scheduled to be sold at the 2006 Keeneland November breeding stock sale, but did not meet her $275,000 reserve … The breeder has nine broodmares, six at Rose Hill Farm near Versailles, Ky., and three in California’s Santa Ynez Valley, two at River Edge Farm and one at Shields Thoroughbreds … He also maintains a racing stable.
