2006 Record: (4-4-0-0)
2006 Earnings: $1,507,680
2006 Win %: 100% In-The-Money %: 100%

Strengths: Widely considered to be one of the most naturally gifted racehorses in recent years, he began his career by winning his first six outings by an average margin of more than six lengths. Last fall he won the Jerome at Belmont by more than 10 lengths, and followed up with a scintillating score in the Cigar Mile at Aqueduct, a race in which he equaled Easy Goer’s one-mile track record of 1:32.40. He’s a brilliant individual when right, and a mile is his best distance.

Weaknesses: Following his Cigar Mile score, he was laid off for four months in advance of the Dubai World Cup. He failed to show up in the world’s richest race, finishing a distant seventh and last, and the poor effort was attributed to a severe throat infection. Off another six months, he retuned to action in the Vosburgh over six furlongs at Belmont Park and finished an even third as the even-money favorite. One could say he needed the race, but is this the same horse we saw in ’06, or has the magic been lost?

In the Genes: His multiple graded stakes-winning sire Forestry won seven of 11 starts and banked just shy of $600,000 in his career. He was probably a better horse around one turn, but enjoyed some success routing as well. He’s a half-brother to ’99 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Cash Run. Forestry’s progeny have earned over $3.5 million in ’07, but despite all of his recent successes as a sire, Forestry has never been represented by a Breeders’ Cup starter.

Status: Retired after his 2007 campaign which ended with a third-place finish in the Dirt Mile. He will begin a stud career in 2008 at Darley in central Kentucky. His initial booking fee is $30,000.

Bet You Didn’t Know: Godolphin Racing ranks fourth amongst owners in Breeders’ Cup history with over $5.2 million earned in the event. The stable has started 36 horses on championship day, winning three times – ’99 Turf with Daylami, ’01 Turf with Fantastic Light and ’01 Juvenile Fillies with Tempera.
