  • Born: Jan. 12, 1973, in the village of Cosse-Le-Vivien in west central France ... son of a stonemason.
  • Family: wife, Claudia; daughters, Megane and Sini.
  • Won the 2001 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf aboard Banks Hill. Also finished second in the 1995 Turf on Freedom Cry and third aboard Swain in the 1996 Turf.
  • Through Oct. 9 is in seventh place in the 2008 French Jockeys' championship with 82 wins from 262 rides, although he is in form place in terms of prizemoney won. His five Group 1 wins during the year have been provided by Goldikova (Prix d'Astarte and Prix du Moulin) Equiano (King's Stand Stakes), Falco (French 2,000 Guineas) and Sageburg (Prix d'Ispahan).
  • Rode his 2,000th winner Oct. 18, 2007 at Chantilly. He carried the colors of George Strawbridge on 2-year-old Moonlanding.
  • His biggest victory of 2006 came on Ouija Board in the G1 Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot ... In 2007, he had Group 1 wins on Cockney Rebel (English and Irish 2000 Guineas) and Doctor Dino (Man O' War Stakes and Hong Kong Vase) and Lawman (Prix Jean Prat).
  • In 1997 he made numerous trips to Britain and won a total of 26 races, including the Dewhurst Stakes on Xaar and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes with Air Express. His other victories outside France included the BMW Deutsches Derby on Borgia and the E.P. Taylor Stakes with Kool Kat Katie. In 1998, he won the Irish 2,000 Guineas on Desert Prince and the Epsom Derby on High-Rise.
  • In 1996, he finished the year as champion jockey of France with 163 wins, capping the year with a win in the Arc d'Triomphe aboard Helissio. He has been champion three times since, in 1997, 1999 and 2000 and won two successive Arcs, on Peintre Celebre in 1997 and on Sagamix in 1998. 
  • He applied for a riding license in Japan in 1994 and spends three months of every year there (winter, when the season is closed in France). In 2000 he became the first overseas jockey to ride 100 career winners there. In the closing months of 2004 he teamed up with Zenno Rob Roy and champion trainer Kazuo Fujisawa to win the Tenno Sho Autumn, Japan Cup and Arima Kinen, a Group 1 treble that had only been completed once before. He also won the 2001 Japan Cup aboard Jungle Pocket.
  • Became contract rider for Daniel Wildenstein in September 1993, the partnership lasting until 2001. He currently acts as retained rider to the Wertheimer brothers. 
  • When Biancone left for Hong Kong, he moved to the stables of Nicolas Clement where he was soon given important rides. On May 30, 1993, he rode his first group 1 winner, Le Balafre in the Prix Jean Prat.
  • After completing a course at the School for Jockeys in Moulin a Vent, accepted an apprenticeship at the yard of Patrick Biancone, following in the footsteps of many top jockeys, such as Gerald Mosse, Eric Legrix and Dominique Boeuf.
  • Grew up in horse country in the Mayenne region of France ... Started riding in pony races at a young age.
  • Peslier is an avid paintball competitor. He travels everywhere with his equipment in the back of his station wagon. He has golfed as well, but considers the game "too serious to be fun."
