She also showed an affinity for the Monmouth course this summer when running a superb second in a paceless United Nations Handicap against the best boys in America. In The Genes: Half-sister to two other turf stakes winner, Cuando and Cuando Puede, she’s out of the prolific broodmare Cuando Quiere. Honey Ryder is a maternal granddaughter of 1978 Triple Crown winner Affirmed.

Status: After a prolific career, Honey Ryder has been retired. She will return to her birthplace, Glencrest Farm, and be bred to Kingmambo.

Bet You Didn’t Know: Perfect Sting, Starine, Islington and Ouija Board all posted Filly and Mare Turf victories in the year following a loss in the Filly & Mare Turf.
