Strengths: Excellent middle-distance runner, he set the pace in last year’s BC Mile and was beaten less than five lengths despite a bobble at the start. He possesses top-class tactical speed on the grass and is now in the care of Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel.
Weaknesses: Silent Name has been away since July and had made only five starts since last year’s Breeders’ Cup. He’s just 1-for-8 around 2 turns in domestic stakes races, and hasn’t won such an assignment since April of 2006.
In the Genes: Son of 1989 Breeders' Cup Classic, Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Sunday Silence, who went on to a dominant stallion career in Japan. Dam, Danzigaway, was a French G3 winner and half-sister to French G2 winner Gold Away.
Status: After one more outing in 2007 (G1 Citation H. at Hollywood Park Nov. 23), he will be sent to Adena Springs, near Paris, Ky., to begin a stud career. His booking will be $7,500.
Bet You Didn’t Know: Silent Name and Sundrop are the only two Japanese-bred runners ever to compete in the Breeders' Cup. Both were sired by Sunday Silence.

Biographies on jockeys, trainers and owners are from the Breeders' Cup World Championships events from 2001 through 2009, and are intended as informational resources. Biographies will be updated if an individual is again a participant in the Breeders' Cup World Championships. Biographies are available for most horses appearing in the top 100 money earnings list, and/or for those who are frequently making headlines in the news starting with the 2006 Triple Crown season.
