He settled permanently in the United States, where he is now a citizen … Founder and former CEO of IMR Global Inc., a company that supplies computer outsourcing and software services worldwide. In 2003, two years after selling IMR Global, Sanan, along with Mellon Ventures and BV-Cornerstone Ventures, turned his attention to the health-care industry through a strategic investment in STI Knowledge, a provider of business process outsourcing (BPO) services. Under the leadership of Sanan as chairman and CEO and daughter Chemain as executive vice president, STI Knowledge expanded dramatically through the buyout of several other business outsourcing companies and underwent a name change to Zavata, Inc. The Atlanta-based company was sold for a reported $170 million in September 2007 to Apollo Health Street, a division of Asia’s largest health-care group, India-based Apollo Hospitals. Sanan stayed on as an adviser to the company’s board of directors to help ensure a smooth transition ... Sanan was named Ernst and Young Florida Entrepreneur of the Year in 1998. • Racing Background: The wealth that he generated throughout his career enabled him to pursue an interest in horses that started during his days as a student in Britain. "For 20 years, I've wanted to breed and race my own horses, but I said I wouldn't do it until I could afford to do it right," Sanan said
  • Breeding/Racing Operation: In 1997, Sanan set about realizing his other ambition, "to win classic races around the world" by investing in the cream of the crop at yearling and breeding stock sales worldwide. He began buying top yearling prospects domestically and abroad ... One of his more astute purchases was at the 2001 Keeneland September sale – Sanan paid $2.5 million for a Seattle Slew colt he later named Vindication. Vindication went on to win the 2002 Breeders' Cup Juvenile and champion juvenile honors. He did not race again after the Breeders' Cup and was retired to Hill 'n' Dale Farm in Lexington. A leading second-crop stallion, Vindication died unexpectedly of complications from colic in July 2008. Among his star progeny are More Happy and Truth Rules ... Sanan has employed a variety of trainers, including Todd Pletcher, Steve Asmussen, Bobby Frankel, Kiaran McLaughlin, Ed Plesa, Josie Carroll and Cam Gambolati. Trainers D. Wayne Lukas, Steve Margolis and Bob Baffert have also trained for Padua, each with a Breeders' Cup winner. Along with Baffert-trained Vindication, Padua won with Lukas-trained Cash Run ('99 Juv. Fillies) and Margolis trainee Cajun Beat, in partnership (03 Sprint) ... Padua also was partners in 2007 Breeders' Cup Classic winner and Horse of the Year, Curlin, who also counted the Preakness Stakes among his victories. Padua, George Bolton and Stonestreet Stable bought 80% of Curlin in early 2007. Sanan sold his interest in Curlin two weeks after the Breeders' Cup ... Campaigns Behindatthebar, which Padua purchased privately in February '08 with original owners Michael Shustek and Don Stanley retaining part-ownership. Behindatthebar went on to win the G2 Lexington Stakes, and then was sidelined. Also in 2008, Segal finished third in the G3 Bashford Manor Stakes. ... In April 1998, Satish and Anne purchased 586-acre Silverleaf Stud Farm in Ocala, Fla., which became the base for their breeding stock ... In August 2007, Padua announced that it would close its Ocala operation over the next year and relocate to Kentucky. Padua will focus on its top-class broodmare band and its breed-to-race operation, but will still stand stallions in Kentucky and Florida. “My main goal in this business has been to win high-end races. I am as committed to this sport as I have ever been and, by refocusing our efforts, Padua will be re-energized,” Sanan said in a statement ...  In March 2008, the Sanans bought property from the Davis family – Horace “Colonel” Davis III, his wife Kathi, and mother Marian – for an undisclosed price. The approximately 275-acre farm adjoins Robert and Blythe Clay’s Three Chimneys’ Old Bradley Place division and will be managed by, and become an operational division of Three Chimneys Farm. “We will be undertaking a major construction project to bring the property up to world-class standards while respecting the historic significance of the wonderful old structures on the property,” said Sanan. “The house will be restored for our family to use when we visit Lexington. Two Kentucky Derby winners have been bred and raised on the farm (Black Gold, 1924, and Burgoo King, 1932) and we hope to add several more to the list.” ... Padua's breeding operation has stood such stallions as Delaware Township, Exchange Rate, Pico Central (Brz), Proud Accolade and Snow Ridge. The Sanans now have Yes It's True and Exchange Rate (standing for the 2008 season) at Three Chimneys, all in Kentucky ... Padua has been a prominent buyer and Sanan has been instrumental in creating the Alliance for Industry Reform, an organization dedicated to creating standards governing Thoroughbred sales practices ... As a breeder, Padua was represented in the Breeders' Cup by Zee Zee, who finished eighth in the Juvenile Fillies for Zayat Stables.
