Nobiz Like Shobiz Retired
Trainer: Barclay Tagg Last Jockey: Javier Castellano Owner(s): Elizabeth J. Valando
/xmlfeed.aspx?action=media%26category=8%26id=20881

2007 Record: (10-5-1-1)
2007 Earnings: $1,318,330
2007 Win %: 50% In-The-Money %: 70%

Strengths: Explosive turn of foot since coming to the grass, he’s already proven against a bumper crop of 3-year-olds in 2007. Winner of the 9-furlong Wood Memorial, he has shown he can carry his game at the Grade 1 level beyond the Mile distance. Trainer Barclay Tagg is masterful in turf reputation, which was his forte long before Funny Cide made him famous.

Weaknesses: Nobiz Like Shobiz took on top-class older turf runners in the Breeders’ Cup Mile and made a mild bid to be fourth. In the final race of his '07 campaign, he returned to his own age group and disappointed as the even-money favorite.

In the Genes: Son of $3 million earner Albert the Great, winner of the G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup. Nobiz became Alert the Great’s first career stakes winner (in his second crop). Home-bred out of Nightstorm, who also raced for the owner, Elizabeth Valando, winning 1-of-6 starts.

Status: Retirement announced May, 2008, after suffering a minor suspensory injury. He is at Indian Creek Farm in Paris, Ky., until a stud plan is decided on.

Bet You Didn’t Know: Owner Elizabeth Valando named Nobiz Like Shobiz as a tribute to her late husband, Tommy, a Broadway producer.
