Former president and CEO of Investment Advisers, Inc., a firm which handled a $17 billion institutional pension fund ... Retired in 1998, but two years later formed Knelman Asset Management Fund, which was subsequently bought out by Lazard, a global investment banking and asset management firm. He remained in an executive position with Lazard and currently runs the company's growth equity operation ... Together, the Knelmans started a philanthropic foundation, the Farfellow Foundation, which among other projects assists underprivileged high school students with college tuition. Breeding/Racing Operation: They currently have 18 broodmares, including Ivory Idol, on their Farfellow Farm, located near Paris, Ky. Ivory Idol produced Anees, who won the 1999 Breeders' Cup Juvenile and was the Eclipse Award-winning 2-year-old colt that year. Anees was Farfellow's only previous Breeders' Cup starter as a breeder ... As owners, multiple graded stakes winner Enjoy the Moment ran in their colors in the 1999 Sprint and finished 14th ... At that time, their stated goal was to raise yearlings who would be of sufficient quality to sell either at the Keeneland July sale or in the first two to three days of the Keeneland September sale ... Other notable horses they have bred include Buddha (2002 Wood Memorial winner), Interest Only, Moon Over Prospect, and grade 3 winner Pink Champaign ... Other stakes winners they have campaigned Chelsea Flower, Teewinot, Kodema and Critikola and Gallo Del Bar (both in South America) ... They sold a Danzig-Montage colt at the 1998 November sale at Keeneland for $1.45 million ... The horses they race are in training with Bill Spawr in California and Steve Asmussen and Becky Maker in the Midwest and East ... "My wife and I have made this a very successful operation because we make the decisions together," Kip said. "We both have somewhat different personalities and they complement one another when we are making decisions regarding broodmares and racehorses." ... Kip Knelman wanted to sell Critikola, the dam of Kentucky Oaks winner Lemons Forever, but his wife and son Jak overruled him because she was such an attractive foal. Knelman credits his wife with the decision to breed the mare to Lemon Drop Kid ... They are racing Lemons Forever's 3-year-old half-sister, Critikal Reason (by Aptitude) ... They also have the weanling by North Light, and Critikola is now in foal to Bluegrass Cat ... They are the breeders of Shore Do, a contender in the Juvenile.
