Racing Background: Clement’s father Miguel was a successful trainer in France; Nicolas and Christophe grew up in his Chantilly yard ... After working for the Alec Head family in France for a year and a half, Clement moved to the United States in early 1986 to work at Taylor Made Farm near Lexington, Ky. … In September 1986, he went to work for trainer Shug McGaughey and stayed with him until November 1987.
