Racing Career: McAnally has trained in Southern California for 50 years and has posted more than 2,500 victories ... Is the all-time winning trainer at Del Mar and the Oak Tree meeting at Santa Anita ... Has won four Breeders' Cup races –the 1989 and ’90 Distaff with Bayakoa, the 1992 Distaff with Paseana, who came back the next year to finish second in the Distaff, and the 1995 Turf with Northern Spur ... Was the trainer of legendary John Henry, named Horse of the Year in 1981 and ’84 ... John Henry had been living in retirement at the Kentucky Horse Park until his death in October 2007 at age 32 ... In addition to John Henry's Eclipse Awards, McAnally has trained four other champions –Bayakoa (older female in 1989 and ’90), Paseana (older female in 1992 and ’93, Tight Spot (1991 male turf champion) and Northern Spur (1995 male turf horse) ... Standing out among his more than 400 victories at Del Mar was the 2003 victory by Candy Ride (Arg) in the $1-million Pacific Classic ... McAnally has saddled 28 previous starters on Breeders' Cup day and has chalked up purse earnings of $3,518,000 ... Tizzy's Tune will be his 29th starter as she heads toward the Filly and Mare Sprint ... Found little solace in Bayakoa's second victory in the Distaff when the popular Go for Wand broke down during a furious stretch battle with the winner and had to be euthanized. Of the incident, McAnally said, "Horses give their lives just for our enjoyment and all they want is to get a feed tub and a water bucket. How can you help but love them?"
