Strengths: Determination to match talent, she’s a versatile performer who has won on turf and multiple synthetic surfaces while ascending through the west coast ranks of filly and mare stardom.

In The Genes: Sire, Silver Hawk, has had a magical touch with turf ladies over the years, represented by daughters such as Wonder Again, Memories of Silver and Germance. Her dam, Nashoba, raced only five times, but won four – so mother and daughter are a combined 11-for-12 heading into the World Championships.

Status: The 2007 Eclipse Award finalist for female turf performer lost to Lahudood, but did take home a hat trick for California-breds: she was voted champion Turf Horse, Older Female and Horse of the Year ... Euthanized following a freak accident in which she kicked the side of her outside pen and broke her leg, in May, 2008.

Bet You Didn’t Know: The only two California-bred horses to win Breeders’ Cup races are Tiznow and Thor’s Echo, coming twice in the Classic and once in the Sprint – never on grass.
