Strengths: An absolute monster as a 3-year-old, winning five of six starts including two graded stakes by wide margins, she ran only once at age 4. She returned from a ten-month layoff to roll over four rivals in the G2 Next Move at Aqueduct, and has had her ups and downs since.
Weaknesses: She has yet to prove that she can win a hard-fought battle. Her seven wins have come by an average margin of seven lengths and she’s never won a close decision. She’s also been known to toss in a clunker on occasion.
In the Genes: Her father, A. P. Indy, is one of the top sires of his generation. He won both the Belmont Stakes and Breeder’s Cup Classic in 1992, and he’s sired 18 Breeders’ Cup starters, winning with Tempera in the ’01 Juvenile Fillies. Indian Vale’s mother, Marley Vale, won the Grade I Test as a sophomore and banked $569,502 in her career.
Bet You Didn’t Know: Horses foaled in Canada have won three Breeders’ Cup races from 70 tries – Awesome Again (’98 Classic), Chief Bearhart (’97 Turf) and Dance Smartly (’91 Distaff).
