Strengths: After struggling against graded-stakes competition as a sophomore and taking ten months off prior to her 4-year-old debut, she has emerged as a star. A romping win in the G2 Delaware Handicap in July marked her coming out party, and she’s since followed up with a second behind Miss Shop in the G1 Personal Ensign at Saratoga and a game win over Indian Vale and Ginger Punch in the Beldame at Belmont Park.
Weaknesses: She was defeated by double-digit lengths in all three of her graded-stakes attempts in 2006, and she’s come a long way in a short period of time. Some handicappers may contend that she’s “over the top” and peaked.
In the Genes: Her sire, Broken Vow, was a multiple stakes winner whose biggest win came in the G2 Iselin Handicap at Monmouth Park. Her dam, Little Bold Belle, is a minor stakes winner who hasn’t produced any other stakes runners of note.
Status: Resting in Ocala for the winter, she will return to training in 2008.
Bet You Didn’t Know: Round Pond (3rd in '06), Beautiful Pleasure (win ’99), Ajina (2nd in ’97), Personal Ensign (win in ’88) and Lady’s Secret (win in ’86) have all used the Beldame at Belmont as a springboard to victory in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff.
