Tasha's Miracle Retired
Trainer: John W. Sadler Last Jockey: Mike E. Smith Owner(s): Budget Stable and Team Valor, LLC
/xmlfeed.aspx?action=media%26category=8%26id=27068

2008 Record: (6-1-2-2)
2008 Earnings: $164,652
2008 Win %: 16% In-The-Money %: 83%

Strengths: Has shown steady improvement throughout a solid, foundation-building freshman campaign. Dominated the Grade 3 Sorrento when beating eventual Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante winner Set Play by more than 3 lengths. Owns a superb pedigree for early success and handling a two-turn test.

Weaknesses: Could not overcome an outside No. 9 post draw in the Grade 1 Oak Leaf, hung wide on both turns before weakening to finish fifth. That casts some doubt as to her ability to make her own trip. With a good post draw, that question obviously could answer itself at Monmouth. Plus, she missed the Del Mar Debutante after “tying up” (cramping) while training for the race, so perhaps she simply needed the race in the Oak Leaf.

In the Genes: Daughter of 2002 Blue Grass and Florida Derby winner Harlan’s Holiday, beaten favorite in that year’s Kentucky Derby. He also finished ninth in the ’02 Breeders’ Cup Classic at age 3. Harlan’s Holiday’s first crop of runners to hit the track also includes Canadian stakes winner Bear Holiday and SoCal stakes winner PSU Grad. Dam, Ms. Cuvee Napa, also has produced G2 Alcibiades-placed filly Deb’s Charm.

Bet You Didn’t Know: Co-owner Budget Stable is so named not because of its frugality, rather because owner Sydney Belzberg operates a fleet of Budget Rental Car franchises in Canada.
