Strengths: Devastating late turn of foot, exemplified in his 2007 Breeders’ Cup Sprint romp, the widest margin of victory in race history at nearly five lengths. He’s proven over multiple track surfaces around the country on fast and sloppy conventional dirt as well as all-weather tracks.
Weaknesses: Stop-and-go campaign in 2008 consisting of only one start through October, a 10th-place finish after a rough trip left him scraped and cut on his legs. Beaten at short odds in the Cigar Mile last fall, so there’s concern if he can reproduce his career-defining effort.
In The Genes: Son of 1998 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Real Quiet, also a Bob Baffert trainee. He is the third winner produced by the unraced Dehere mare Candytuft.
NOTE: Bio stats include North American and selected international races. Click here to view selected international race list. Biographies on jockeys, trainers and owners are from the Breeders' Cup World Championships events from 2001 through 2009, and are intended as informational resources. Biographies will be updated if an individual is again a participant in the Breeders' Cup World Championships. Biographies are available for most horses appearing in the top 100 money earnings list, and/or for those who are frequently making headlines in the news starting with the 2006 Triple Crown season.
