Strengths: She’s been very professional in all of her runs, chilling mid-pack before unleashing her rally at just the right time.
In the Genes: Her grade 2-winning sire Proud Citizen finished second in the ’02 Kentucky Derby and earned $638,822 in a 16-race career. This year (2007) he ranks fifth amongst first crop sires and eighth amongst juvenile sires. Her dam Pacific Spell won just two of 16 career starts, and both of those victories came sprinting.
Status: Not originally nominated to the Triple Crown, she is a late $6,000 nomination. A lukewarm favorite in the Kentucky Oaks, she crushed her rivals by five lengths.
Bet You Didn’t Know: Her owner and breeder is former Kentucky governor, Brereton Jones.
