/xmlfeed.aspx?action=media%26category=8%26id=28144

2009 Record: (4-1-0-1)
2009 Earnings: $147,410
2009 Win %: 25% In-The-Money %: 50%

Strengths: He got a well-timed ride from jockey Richard Migliore in the Norfolk in his first try around two turns at Santa Anita, and scored a professional win over fellow Juvenile contenders Salute the Sarge and Shore Do. He’s gotten better with every start, is proven around two turns, and has flashed finishing punch. He’s also shown rapid improvement in a short amount of time.

In the Genes: His father, Dixie Union, also won the Norfolk at age two, and he would go on to take down the Haskell at Monmouth Park the following year. Dixie Chatter is the first foal produced by the unraced mare Mini Chat, who is a half-sister to the graded stakes-winning sprint filly Cat Chat.

Status: Entered in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, he scratched two days before the race after coming down with a slight fever. After recovering from that, he suffered an ankle injury which kept him off the track most of the winter. He is being pointed for the $100,000 Laz Barrera Memorial Stakes over seven furlongs at Hollywood Park on May 18.

Bet You Didn’t Know: Dixie Chatter’s sire, Dixie Union, fifth in the ’99 Juvenile, was also campaigned by trainer Dick Mandella. Mandella and owner Herman Sarkowsky also teamed up to win the 1993 Juvenile Fillies with Phone Chatter.
