Cry and Catch Me
Trainer: Bob Baffert Last Jockey: Mike E. Smith Owner(s): Stetson Land and Cattle LLP
/xmlfeed.aspx?action=media%26category=8%26id=28165

2007 Record: (3-2-1-0)
2007 Earnings: $191,000
2007 Win %: 66% In-The-Money %: 100%

Strengths: Speedy and consistent, she displayed a very big heart in winning the Grade I Oak Leaf at Santa Anita by a nose over Izarra in what was her first try around two turns.

Weaknesses: All three of her career starts have come over synthetic surfaces, so she is obviously unproven over traditional dirt.

In the Genes: Her sire, Street Cry, finished third in the ’00 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, one of the stronger editions in championship history, and he earned just shy of $1 million in a nine-race career. With Kentucky Derby champ and leading Breeders’ Cup Classic contender Street Sense topping his progeny, Street Cry is the seventh leading sire in North America in ’07. Her versatile dam, Please Sign In, earned $324,446 in a 33-race career, and she was equally good on dirt and turf.

Status: Came up with a temperature of 102 on the Wednesday before Breeders' Cup and was forced to scratch. She will recover at Monmouth before shipping back to Baffert's home base in California.

Bet You Didn’t Know: Two of the last four Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winners took down the Oak Leaf in their start prior -- Halfbridled in ’03 and Sweet Catomine in ’04.
