Wicked Style
Trainer: George R. Arnold, II Last Jockey: Rene R. Douglas Owner(s): Ashbrook Farm
/xmlfeed.aspx?action=media%26category=8%26id=28305

2007 Record: (4-3-0-0)
2007 Earnings: $445,000
2007 Win %: 75% In-The-Money %: 75%
BC Points: 1

Qualified for the Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile via a victory in the Lane's End Breeders' Futurity on October 6, 2007, at Keeneland, one of the Breeders' Cup Challenge series races.

Strengths: Dismissed at 11-to-1 odds in the G1 Breeders’ Futurity, he overcame the 12-hole to post a gate-to-wire victory over a Keeneland Polytrack that greatly favors off-the-pace types. One of only a few horses to enter this year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile without a blemish on his record, he broke his maiden at first asking at Arlington Park, and followed up with a super-game victory in the Grade III Arlington Washington Futurity.

Weaknesses: All three of his career starts have come on Polytrack, so he is obviously unproven over traditional dirt. The two graded stakes he won may not have been as strong as the preps run in New York and California.

In the Genes: Son of 2000 Juvenile winner and champion 2-year-old Macho Uno, who twice also competed in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (fourth in ’01 and fifth in ’02). Wicked Style’s mother, Deviletta, won just once from 21 lifetime starts, but she did earn over $100,000.

Status: Scheduled to compete in 2007 following a dismal finish in the Breeders' Cup, trainer Rusty Arnold decided instead to shelf him until spring. The son of Macho Uno was honored as the 2007 2-year-old Florida-bred male champion.

Bet You Didn’t Know: The top three finishers from last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile – Street Sense, Circular Quay and Great Hunter – finished 3-2-1, respectively, in last year’s Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland.
