Diamond Stripes
/xmlfeed.aspx?action=media%26category=8%26id=28369

2008 Record: (2-1-0-0)
2008 Earnings: $680,000
2008 Win %: 50% In-The-Money %: 50%

Strengths: He’s a remarkably consistent, hard-trying individual with a dangerous finishing punch. His only sub-par performance was in the Breeders' Cup Classic, the only time he's competed on an off track.

In the Genes: His sire, Notebook, never won a graded stakes, but he did place in many en route to earning nearly $600,000 from 21 starts. As a sire, he’s been represented by five Breeders’ Cup starters with Three Ring producing the best finish (third in ’98 Juvenile Fillies). Dam, Romantic Summer, never placed in a stakes, but she was very capable both routing and sprinting. She’s been a sensational producer, with Diamond Stripes being a full-brother to a pair of stakes-caliber horses in Summer Note and Summer Book.

Status: With two wins at the mile distance, albeit in maiden and allowance company, his connections pointed him to the G2 Godolphin Mile at Nad Al Sheba. He won by 1 1/4 lengths boosting his bankroll by $600,000.

Bet You Didn’t Know: Geldings are 11-for-191 in Breeders’ Cup races and seven of those wins came in the Sprint.
