Strengths: Honest and hard-knocking performer since the day he walked on the track. He’s experienced handling big-crown environments, running both in the Breeders’ Cup and Kentucky Derby. Pyro showed the kind of superstar brilliance that only top horses possess when he won the Louisiana Derby, even if he has not been able to replicate that to date.

Weaknesses: Though a deep closer, it’s uncertain if he’s capable of sustaining that run over 1-1/4 miles, or whether he’s better at 1-1/16 miles to 1-1/8 miles with strong pace help up front. Will need to prove he can defeat older horses and that he can handle a surface other than traditional dirt.
