Strengths: Unbeaten and no doubt brilliant, she’s devastated her competition by an average of more than 9 lengths per outing. Her victories have all come over different surfaces and she possesses a stellar stakes win at Monmouth in the Post Deb.
Weaknesses: Seasoning obviously comes into question with a filly who has made only 3 starts and didn’t begin her career until June of her 3-year-old campaign. While the Grade 3 Victory Ride had a fairly strong field, it pales in comparison to the Grade 1 competition she’ll face in the Breeders’ Cup.
In The Genes: Daughter of international superstar Johannesburg, winner of the 2001 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and the top 2-year-old on two continents. From Jo-Burg’s first crop, which includes Florida Derby winner Scat Daddy and fellow Filly & Mare Sprint hopeful Baroness Thatcher.
Status: As a result of trainer Patrick Biancone's suspension, Francois Parisel was the trainer of record for La Traviata's Filly & Mare Sprint run. Following the Breeders' Cup, La Traviata was moved to Ashford Stud, then to Todd Pletcher's barn in Southern California.
Bet You Didn’t Know: Fillies to win the Breeders’ Cup Sprint include Desert Stormer, Very Subtle and Safely Kept.
