Forefathers
Strengths: The quality of the 2007 sophomore class certainly bolsters his stock by association, and he’s come back to run two strong races after the layoff since moving to Hall of Famer Bill Mott’s care. Many handicappers prefer the third race of a horse’s form cycle as their optimum performance.
Weaknesses: Unknown entity vs. elders and a difficult read matching up with the best 6-furlong horses in America. Has yet to run a race near the estimated 1:08-and-change needed to win the BC Sprint at Monmouth.
In the Genes: Son of elite stallion Gone West, who has produced Breeders’ Cup champions Da Hoss (Mile twice), Johar (Turf) and Speightstown (Sprint). Dam, Star of Goshen, was a spectacular winner of the G3 La Troienne sprinting.
Status: Fractured his right front coffin bone. After surgery, he is expected to return to training in '08.
Bet You Didn’t Know: Gone West is the only sire to produce winners of the Breeders’ Cup’s shortest (Sprint) and longest (Turf) races.

Biographies on jockeys, trainers and owners are from the Breeders' Cup World Championships events from 2001 through 2009, and are intended as informational resources. Biographies will be updated if an individual is again a participant in the Breeders' Cup World Championships. Biographies are available for most horses appearing in the top 100 money earnings list, and/or for those who are frequently making headlines in the news starting with the 2006 Triple Crown season.
