Overextended

Strengths: He’s shown steady improvement, and has a two-turn victory under his belt, having broken his maiden last out at Santa Anita. He displayed an ability to finish late in his races.

Weaknesses: Only has a maiden victory to his credit, and he finished ninth in his only previous stakes attempt in the G1 Del Mar Futurity. All five of his career starts have come over synthetic racing surfaces, so he is obviously unproven over traditional dirt.

In the Genes: His multiple grade 1-winning sire Monarchos counts the ’01 Kentucky Derby amongst his four victories. This third crop sire’s top earner is Moyer’s Pond ($247,800), who placed in both the Ohio Derby and West Virginia Derby in ’07. Dam, Way of Life, raced just three times, winning once.

Status: Remains in training for possible runs during the Hollywood Park meet.

Bet You Didn’t Know: Owner J. Paul Reddam has started 14 horses in the Breeders’ Cup (solo or in partnership). His Wilko upset the ’04 Juvenile at 28-to-1, and his Red Rocks captured the ’06 Turf at 10-to-1.

Biographies on jockeys, trainers and owners are from the Breeders' Cup World Championships events from 2001 through 2009, and are intended as informational resources. Biographies will be updated if an individual is again a participant in the Breeders' Cup World Championships. Biographies are available for most horses appearing in the top 100 money earnings list, and/or for those who are frequently making headlines in the news starting with the 2006 Triple Crown season.
