Strengths: She only managed even efforts in a pair of Saratoga sprints to begin her career, but stepped up her game several notches when stretched out around two turns on turf on Sept. 20 at Belmont, posting a resounding off the pace score. Cut back to a one-turn dirt mile for the Grade I Frizette, she closed well to finish a sharp second behind the freakish winner Indian Blessing. Perhaps an extra bend will help her turn the tables on that talented foe.
Weaknesses: Her maiden win was scored on turf (beating future filly stand-out Country Star) and she seems just a cut below the top level. She showed little in her first two runs on traditional dirt, but did step up big time in the Frizette last out.
In the Genes: Her sire, El Corredor, won seven of 10 races in a brilliant, yet shortened, racing career, and he did his best work at a mile. He counts Blue Grass winner Dominican and the $900,000 earner Adieu, who finished seventh in the ’05 Juvenile Fillies, amongst his progeny. Her graded-stakes placed mother Kiss a Miss, who was equally good routing and sprinting, earned $265,486 in a 39-race career, and her maternal grandsire Kissin Kris won the Grade I Haskell in ’93.
Bet You Didn’t Know: Backseat Rhythm is campaigned by the original connections of dual classic winner Big Brown, trainer Pat Reynolds and owner Paul Pompa Jr.
