Strengths: She broke her maiden at first asking in advance of lighting the tote in consecutive Grade I stakes, finishing third in the Del Mar Debutante in advance of a runner-up performance in the Oak Leaf, a race in which she was beaten only a nose by Cry and Catch Me in her first two-turn try. She displays finishing punch, but is still learning her lessons and appears to have a very high ceiling.
Weaknesses: All three of her career starts have come over synthetic surfaces, so she is obviously unproven over traditional dirt. She’s been a little too eager and needs to learn to settle.
In the Genes: By the top sire Distorted Humor, who currently ranks third in the nation by earnings in ’07. Classic contender Any Given Saturday, ’03 Kentucky Derby winner Funny Cide, and ’05 Travers victor Flower Alley are a few of his top offspring. He was the leading sire of stakes winners in ’06. Her mother Arlucea won just once from seven career starts, but her grandmother Bayakoa won the Breeders’ Cup Distaff in both ’89 and ’90.
Bet You Didn’t Know: Trainer Ron McAnally has four wins from 27 Breeders’ Cup starts, but he’s finished no better than fourth from eight tries with Juveniles.
