Phantom Income
Trainer: Richard A. Violette, Jr. Last Jockey: Eibar Coa Owner(s): Klaravich Stables, Inc. and Lawrence, William

2007 Record: (4-2-0-0)
2007 Earnings: $153,200
2007 Win %: 50% In-The-Money %: 50%

Strengths: By a $15,000 stallion and she cost $200,000 at the sales as a 2-year-old, so that tells you she has precocious speed and was considered a “win now” prospect. Has shown the ability to dominate lesser opponents and impress on the stopwatch.

Weaknesses: Untested beyond seven furlongs, she’s yet to race around two turns and was well beaten in her only grade 1 try in the Spinaway The vast majority of her pedigree influences lean toward sprints.

In the Genes: Dam, Catch the Ghost, is half-sister to 2004 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner and Horse of the Year Ghostzapper. Phantom Income is by the top sprint sire Montbrook, whose progeny include grade 2 winner Chapel Royal and elite-level sprint stars Shake You Down and Thunderello. Montbrook has produced successful routers like Super Derby winner Outofthebox and graded stakes winner Snuck In.

Status: Remains in training for a 2008 campaign.

Bet You Didn’t Know: Sire, Montbrook, had a perfect 3-for-3 in-the-money record in the Breeders’ Cup with his progeny. Chapel Royal, Shake You Down and Thunderello all finished in their respective BC trifectas.
