Strengths: Has blossomed this year since moving to the turf, rising from maiden claimer to the toughest levels of American grass racing. Grade 1-placed up to 1-1/2 miles, far out-running his pedigree, and he’s faced a Who’s Who of US turf performers.
Weaknesses: Placed in various races of distances and surfaces, he’s not a specialist and may be best-suited at a bit longer grass events. He has yet to notch a Grade 1 win in 16 career starts.
In The Genes: Sire, Trippi, was a top-flight sprinter on the main track and his most successful offspring has been current top distaff sprinter Miss Macy Sue. His only offspring to race in the Breeders’ Cup to date was 2005 Juvenile also-ran Jealous Profit. Dam, Pocket Beauty, won just once in her racing career, but hails from a solid family of European grass stakes performers.
Bet You Didn’t Know: His sire, Trippi, was named for former 1940s University of Georgia All America running back Charley Trippi, who was famous for running the “end sweep” (End Sweep is the sire of Trippi).
