  • Racing Background: Rincon’s love of horses developed at an early age, thanks to an eventful stroll in Manhattan  ... “I was born in New York City and one day when I was a baby my mother was walking down Fifth Avenue with me. A horse stuck his head in my carriage and I screamed. I’ve loved horses ever since,” Rincon said ... Her husband, Luis, bought his first horse in 1966 after he made $15,000 off an accounting error. Through the advice of a co-worker, he used that money to a buy Tropic King, a horse based in Venezuela who would account for eight wins and eight seconds for the Rincons before he was sold in New York for $75,000. “Tropic King paid for our first house,” Rincon said ... Trained by Angel Penna Jr., the Venezuelan homebred is being pointed to the Breeders’ Cup Mile after taking the Dixie Handicap on the Preakness undercard and the Firecracker at Churchill Downs in 2007 ... Remarkable News won the Fourstardave at Saratoga in 2006 ... “I think he’s a special horse,” said Rincon, who has yet to have a starter in the Breeders’ Cup. “I already have butterflies about the Breeders’ Cup.” ... Rincon plans to send four more horses to Penna in the fall ... Aside from Remarkable News, Rincon has about 20 horses in training in Venezuela, most of them under the care of Tito Feijoo ... In total, Rincon has more than 100 horses, including broodmares and stallions at her farm, Haras Luisiana. She bought Haras Luisiana, located in Bejuma, Venezuela, 15 years ago ... She has four broodmares at her farm in Ocala, which she purchased in 2000 ... Has enjoyed great success racing in Venezuela, owning the homebred Triple Crown winners Front Stage, Magnificently and Blazing Free ... Blazing Free, the 2005 Triple Crown champion, is still racing in 2007 as a 5-year-old.
