  • Born: June 28, 1971 ... Born and raised in Jersey City, N.J., and was a high school All-American point guard for St. Anthony's, playing for his father, Bob Sr.
  • Residence: Hollywood, Fla.
  • Family: wife Leslie; children Cameron, Sydney and Robert Trey
  • Education: Graduate of Duke University
  • Professional Background: Hurley was an All-American point guard for Duke University's men's basketball team from 1989-1993. While there he became the NCAA all-time assist leader and led the Blue Devils to back-to-back national championships. Hurley was selected by the Sacramento Kings as the seventh pick in the 1993 NBA Draft, but a serious automobile accident later that year threatened his career. He went on to play five seasons in the NBA before retiring from the Kings and the Vancouver Grizzlies.
  • Racing Career: Races and breeds horses as Devil Eleven Stable, named for his jersey number as a Duke Blue Devil ... Also has raced in a partnership called Team Derby Dreams, who started Stream Cat to an eighth-place finish in the 2005 Breeders' Cup Juvenile after winning the Kentucky Cup Juvenile at Turfway Park. Stream Cat returned to Turfway in 2007, finishing third behind Hard Spun and Street Sense in the Kentucky Cup Classic
  • Breeding/Racing Operation: A horse owner since 1998, Hurley's most notable purchase to date has been Songandaprayer, who won the 2001 Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park before going on to compete in the Kentucky Derby ... Other top horses Hurley has raced include Shooter, who won the Sapling Stakes at Monmouth Park in 2000 and Praying for Cash, who won the 2006 Long Branch and went on to be second in the Haskell at Monmouth … Songandaprayer, the sire of 2007 Breeders' Cup Juvenile contender Preachin Man, stands at Walmac Farm near Lexington as the property of a syndicate that includes Hurley ... Preachin Man is the second foal out of the unraced Devil's Bag mare Sweet Cameron, who also has an unraced 3-year-old filly by Songandaprayer.
