  • Born: In 1962 in Arcadia, Calif.
  • Residence: Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
  • Family: wife D.J.; Daughters Alexa, Lauren and Morgan
  • Professional Background: Is a division president for K. Hovnanian, a home building company based in Red Bank, N.J.
  • Breeding/Racing Operation: A life-long fan of horse racing, Perry entered the sport after approaching trainer Doug O’Neill, and claimed his first horse in March 2005 ... Won his first race with Gone Cattin on New Year’s Eve of 2005 at Santa Anita ... Currently owns a share of four horses, the star being Maryfield, winner of the inaugural Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint ... Claimed for $50,000 in 2006, Maryfield has emerged as a multiple graded stakes winner for Perry and his partners, Mark Gorman and Nick Mestrandrea ... “She is a once in a lifetime horse,” Perry said. “To claim a horse for $50,000 and not only win $600,000 with her but run in a race like the Breeders’ Cup is unbelievable. It is just incredible. You can be in this game your whole life and never have something like this happen.” ... Though each partner owns one-third of Maryfield and they did not know each other until they were brought together by O’Neill, Perry says the group manages the horse with the trust and harmony of life-long friends. “We all get along great,” Perry said. “Everyone has a say and everything works out fine. You don’t see that too often in any business. We complement each other very well.” ... In his free time, Perry enjoys a round of golf. He is also a St. Louis Rams fan and the silks worn by Elvis Trujillo in the Breeders' Cup pictured the Rams' logo.
