Earned a spot in the Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Turf via a Breeders' Cup Challenge victory in the Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009.
Strengths: Affinity for the west coast turf courses cannot be questioned as he developed into the circuit’s top turf distance performer in 2008. Pure router has won multiple graded stakes races as the Turf’s 1-1/2 mile distance. Veteran truly has come to hand since moving to the Julio Canani barn.
Weaknesses: Top successes have come at the Grade 2 and Grade 3 level, leaving some question as to his ability to handle the world’s best. Tiring performance in Dubai Sheema Classic in the spring further lends some credence to that concern, though a trip halfway around the world vs. his backyard in the Breeders’ Cup has to be weighed.
