  • Through Oct. 4, 2009, Rosario ranks sixth in the nation by earnings with $9,744,064 and 218 wins from 1,167 mounts. He has won 21 stakes, 11 of them graded.
  • His graded stakes wins in 2009 include the San Antonio Handicap (G2) with Magnum (Arg), Santa Ana Handicap (G2) with Belmont Cat, Well Monied in the Honeymoon Handicap (G2), Evita Argentina in the A Gleam Handicap (G2), Ferneley (Ire) in the Del Mar Mile Handicap (G2), Rendezvous in the Del Mar Derby (G2), Mr Gruff in the San Simeon Handicap (G3), Noble Court in the Ack Ack Handicap (G3), Obrigado (Fr) in the Round Table Handicap (G3), Oil Man (Ire) in the Cinema Handicap (G3), and Necessary Evil in the Hollywood Juvenile Championshio (G3).
  • Both trainer John Sadler and Rosario's agent Vic Stauffer have spoken of his strength as his greatest asset. Says Stauffer: "Some people have compared him to a young Laffit Pincay, and from the 3/16th pole to the wire, he can make a difference with a horse."
  • Rosario ended Rafael Bejarano's streak of six consecutive riding titles at Southern California tracks by leading the standings at the 2009 spring/summer Hollywood Park with 79 wins. He went on to win the Del Mar title with 55 wins.
  • Had the third five-win day of his career on Dec. 6, 2008 at Hollywood Park. He flew to Puerto Rico that night and won the $300,000 Clasico del Caribe at El Commandante the next day on Sicotico ... His first five bagger came at Golden Gate Fields on April 14, 2007 at Bay Meadows. His five wins that day included the Breeders' Cup Oaks on Round Trip Flight for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer.
  • During 2008, Rosario was fourth in the standings at Santa Anita's winter/spring meeting, second at Hollywood Park, second at Del Mar, third at the Oak Tree at Santa Anita meeting, and second at Hollywood Park. By the fall of 2008, he took Vic Stauffer as his agent in Southern California.
  • First graded stakes win came for John Sadler on Zappa in the San Pasqual Handicap (G2) on January 12, 2008. He went on to ride three more graded stakes winners in 2008: Sky Cape in the La Jolla Handicap (G2), Million Dollar Run in Railbird Stakes (G3), and Slew's Tizzy in the Native Diver Handicap (G3), in which he set a Cushion Track record for 1 1/8 miles in 1:46.78.
  • Came to Southern California in 2007, where he used Vince DeGregory as his agent. His first win in Southern California came on June 21, 2007 for trainer John Sadler aboard Only One Way. Sadler has been a strong supporter ever since. Other top stables who ride Rosario include Bob Baffert and Carla Gaines.
  • Remained in Northern California for much of 2007, finishing second in the standings to perennial leader Russell Baze at both Golden Gate Fields and Bay Meadows. Won his first stakes on March 18, 2007 at Bay Meadows aboard Dealer Choice in the $50,000 Luck of the Irish Handicap.
  • Despite still learning English, Rosario signed on to represent the Southern California online handicapping tip service www.winby5.com in 2009.
  • Dominican bloodstock agent and former trainer Herbert Soto arranged for Rosario to come to Southern California in 2006. He began riding at Fairplex Park, then went north to Golden Gate Fields. Vic Stauffer handled his book in Northern California at this time. For his abbreviated time in the U.S. in 2006, he had 216 mounts.
  • Won the Angel Cordero Jr. Jockey Challenge at El Commandante in Puerto Rico in 2005.
  • His first race was at Galapagos Hippodromo V Centenario in Dominican Republic. His first win was there in July of 2000. He went on to be leading rider in Dominican Republic four times and second once.
  • Grew up on a farm near Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, that had horses and donkeys. He used horses for transportation. Attended the races with an older brother, and when he was 13, he asked his family if he could be a jockey. He attended the jockey school for six months, and by age 14, he was a licensed professional.
