  • Racing Career: Won the 2009 Spring/Summer Belmont Park riding title with 98 wins, 27 more than Rajiv Maragh ... Led the Saratoga standings with 45 wins, and was also the leading earner with $2,734,486 ... On October 2, became only the fifth jockey in history to win 300 races in one year at New York's Aqueduct, Belmont Park and Saratoga Racecourse. The other riders to accomplish the feat were Angel Cordero Jr., Steve Cauthen, Mike Smith and Eibar Coa ... Through Oct. 4, has won 44 stakes, 11 of them graded. ... Major wins in 2009 include the Arlington Million (G1), Frank Kilroe Mile (G1), and Man o' War Stakes (G1) aboard Gio Ponti, the Ogden Phipps Handicap (G1), Shuvee Handicap (G2), and Bed o' Roses Handicap (G2) with Seattle Smooth, the Prioress Stakes (G1) with Cat Moves, and the True North Handicap (G2) and Alfred G.   • Presented with the 2004 Isaac Murphy Award, presented by the National Turf Writers Association to the jockey with the highest winning percentage for the year.
  • Led the nation in wins in 2001 (431) and 2003 (453), and was second, with 385, behind Julien Leparoux in 2006. His 2006 in the money percentage of 63 percent was higher than any other rider in the top 20 earnings list.
  • Leading rider at Delaware Park 2004-2007. Started dividing his business between Delaware and New York with a heavy New York emphasis in 2007, when he spent his first full season at Saratoga. Made the permanent move to New York in 2009.
  • Met his wife Sharon at Delaware Park, where she galloped horses in the mornings and ponied in the afternoons ... They married the day after the 2001 Belmont Stakes but delayed their honeymoon until January 2002 because of the opportunity to win the national riding title.
  • Came to the United States from his native Venezuela in 1995 and began riding in 1996 at Hialeah. First win was aboard Solo Moondance in March of that year.
  • Began riding horses at age 16 in Venezuela despite the strong disapproval of his father, who wanted him to become a doctor. At his father’s suggestion, he started to learn show jumping instead, but after about a year he slipped away to a nearby training center, where he began getting on the easier horses. After about a week, his father found out and ended up “being very supportive.” Dominguez, however, had to promise to finish high school.
