Racing Background: Smith ran Frances Genter Stable for about 30 years. Among the highlights during the stable's operation were the victories by Unbridled in the 1990 Kentucky Derby and that year's Breeders' Cup Classic as well as the win by Smile in the 1986 Breeders' Cup Sprint ... Mrs. Genter died in 1992 and Smith continued to manage it until her horses were off the racetrack. The stable was disbanded at the end of 2000

In 2006, he bred Breeders' Cup Distaff prospect Baghdaria, who finished seventh behind Round Pond ... Smith also owned and bred Solvig, who ran fourth in the 2001 Filly & Mare Turf, the only previous horse to run under his name in the Breeders' Cup ...
