  • Professional Background: One of the more successful Internet entrepreneurs of the past decade, Borislow negotiated a $100 million deal in 1997 to have exclusive rights to sell discounted long distance service to America Online customers. "We doubled in value from $750 million to $1.5 billion," said Borislow … He “retired” in 1999 at age 38 after selling his telecommunications business, Tel-Save Holdings Inc. Purchased $1.8 million yearling at 1999 Keeneland September sale that would eventually become the stakes winner and 2001 Kentucky Derby entrant Talk Is Money. Named for former Philadelphia Flyers' hockey player Rick Tocchet (his name was misspelled in a bookkeeping error during registration), Toccet was runner-up (to Vindication) as champion juvenile in 2002. Prior to Hollywood Futurity win, Borislow purchased a full-page ad in the Daily Racing Form challenging Padua Stables, owner of Vindication, to run their colt to determine top juvenile. Toccet had previously finished ninth in Vindication’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile win … Toccet missed the ’03 Classics with injuries and never regained his 2-year-old form, winning just one listed stakes in 15 starts following his juvenile season… Toccet also finished eighth in the 2003 Breeders’ Cup Turf and now is a stallion at Castleton Lyons in Kentucky … Borislow dispersed much of breeding operation during the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November mixed sale in 2004 following a dispute with the IRS … Re-entered business the following year, leading a partnership (which included New York Yankees manager Joe Torre and former Philadelphia Flyer forward Keith Jones) to purchase Wild Desert as Triple Crown hopeful in February 2005. Son of Wild Rush captured the Queens Plate that June, becoming the first runner to win the Canadian Classic off a layoff of ten weeks or more ... Borislow was represented as breeder of High Finance, eighth in the 2007 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile.
