When Frosted is good, he is very, very good.

The glimmering gray flashed his brilliance in winning the Metropolitan Handicap (G1) June 11 and put icing on the cake in the Whitney Handicap (G1) August 6. The victories earned Frosted a fees-paid trip to both the Las Vegas Dirt Mile and Classic, respectively, on the Breeders’ Cup program.

In the Metropolitan, Frosted waited behind a rapid pace before cruising home more than 14 lengths in front. The Tapit colt set his own fast fractions in his effortless Whitney score.

"You hear 1:09 and change [for the first six furlongs] and you get a little nervous,” trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said. “And then you look and see how easy he's doing it and he's in a good rhythm and [jockey Joel Rosario] hasn't moved on him. If he was there doing it that way, Joel had a lot of horse."

McLaughlin frequently refers to Frosted in the same breath as Invasor (ARG), who won the 2006 Breeders' Cup Classic for him and later was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

"I hope that I can say that [Frosted is] the best horse I've ever trained,” he said. “I always say Invasor is, and it's tough to top that. If he keeps going and maybe wins the Breeders' Cup Classic, we can go from there. But, he is up there. They're 1 and 1A."

Frosted came to prominence in 2015 by winning the Wood Memorial Stakes (G1) before finishing fourth in the Kentucky Derby (G1). He then became the first horse since 1978 to finished second to a Triple Crown winner when he chased American Pharoah home in the Belmont Stakes (G1).

The cleverly named son of the mare Fast Cookie campaigns for Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum’s Godolphin Racing, which bred him in the name of their Darley farm operation. The Maktoum family and McLaughlin have a long and successful history together that includes the aforementioned Invasor, who raced for Sheikh Mohammed’s brother Hamdan under the Shadwell Stable banner.
