Dutch Connection (Gb)

Dutch Connection (GB)

Dutch Connection has won a graded stakes in each of his three seasons of racing, and has come close in several others.

He’s well-traveled, having raced in his home country of Great Britain, France, Ireland, and the United States. In his lone start in this country, he was fifth in the G1 Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland last year, beaten just three and a quarter lengths.

The chestnut son of Dutch Art captured the G3 Acomb Stake at York at two; the G3 Jersey Stake at Ascot at three; and G2 Lennox Stake at Goodwood this season at four.

He’s been the bridesmaid on many occasions in graded stakes. This year, he finished second in the G2 Fred Cowley MBE Memorial Summer Mile and the G2 Sandown Mile; last year in the G1 Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly and the G2 Lennox Stake at Goodwood; and he also ran second as a two year old in the G1 Vincent O’Brien National Stake at the Curragh in Ireland.

Like many of the Euros heading to Santa Anita, his connections are hoping for a fast turf. “He’s pretty versatile with the trip and fast ground being really the key for him,” said trainer Charlie Hills. “He’s a fine, big horse who should improve as he gets older.”
