Pure Sensation brings a three-race winning streak to his second attempt at the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint after encountering interference and finishing unplaced in 2015. He most recently scored a hard-fought head victory in the Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational October 8.
"He's very game," jockey Kendrick Carmouche said after the race. "He's really not a good closer from way out of it, but he had closed with me in the Turf Monster last year. I had faith in him that he could do it again and he did."
Carmouche was referring to the 2015 Turf Monster Handicap (G3) at Parx Racing in which Pure Sensation nosed out eventual Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner Mongolian Saturday. After the Turf Monster and the Sprint, Pure Sensation was briefly out of competition before resuming his career in February. He went back to the sidelines again, but emerged in June to win the Jaipur Invitational Stakes (G3) to kick off his string of three straight victories.
Pure Sensation is a third generation homebred for Patricia Generazio who also bred his stakes winning dam and winning granddam.
