Mind Your Biscuits

Mind Your Biscuits

The goal of any young trainer, especially one that has grown up in New York, is to win a stakes race at Saratoga and that dream came true for Robert Falcone Jr. when Mine Your Biscuits easily won the $200,000 Amsterdam Stakes for 3-year-old July 30. Now, the 23-year-old trainer and his overachieving New York-bred horse are heading to racing's biggest stage – the Breeders' Cup Sprint.

“This [Amsterdam win] means a lot,” said Falcone, who has 15 horses in training. “I'm just happy to be here; it's the greatest horses, the best trainers and the best jockeys, is just great. But to win on a day like this is really something.”

Mind Your Biscuits was the first stakes winner and first graded stakes winner for his trainer, Robert Falcone Jr., who only began training three years ago. He unfortunately disappointed in his next race when fifth in the Grade 1 King's Bishop, also at Saratoga, behind fellow Breeders' Cup TwinSpires Sprint contender Drefong, but rebounded to finish a closing second in the $200,000 Gallant Bob Stakes at Parx Sept. 24 behind yet another Sprint competitor, Noholdingback Bear.

The son of multiple stakes winning sprinter Posse, who finished fourth in the 2003 Sprint, further showed his readiness for his most important race to date by working a bullet half mile in 46 4/5 Oct. 21 at his Belmont Park base. It was the fastest of 41 works at the distance.
