Zipessa may be lightly raced for a 4-year-old, with only nine lifetime starts, but she’s certainly well traveled — as well as consistent.
The daughter of City Zip, who broke her maiden at first asking at Arlington Park in the summer of 2015, has four wins from nine starts, with a second and two thirds.
In addition to Chicago, she’s raced at Parx in Philadelphia, the Fair Grounds in New Orleans, Churchill Downs in Louisville, and at both Del Mar and this year’s Breeders’ Cup home, Santa Anita.
Her lone stakes win thus far was the Grade 3 Dr. James Penny Memorial at Parx on the Fourth of July, but she’s hit the board in two grade ones since — running third in the Beverly D. at Arlington and most recently, second in the Rodeo Drive Stakes at Santa Anita. The Rodeo Drive is the same distance as the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at a mile and a quarter.
