Executiveprivilege
This brilliant filly has blossomed this year. She was bought for only $23,000 as a yearling, but was then the $650,000 sale topper at the 2012 OBS April 2-year-old sale. Purchased by trainer Bob Baffert for owners Karl Watson, Mike Pegram, and Paul Weitman, Executive Privilege was named just two days before her debut. A little restlessness in the gate was the only sign it was her first start, as she has been unbelievably professional in all her races, remaining undefeated even as the stakes competition stiffens.
Baffert has been effusive in praise for Executive Privilege, calling her “pretty special," “gifted," a “female version of (2010 3-year-old champion) Lookin At Lucky” and comparing her to his champion Silverbulletday. While her wins have been on synthetic surfaces, Baffert says she loves the dirt and the goal is the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies for her. She wins easily with little time between races and is not bothered running behind horses or on the inside. Rafael Bajarano is her regular rider.
Executive Privilege was sired by First Samurai and her mother is the Unaccounted For mare Refugee. Unaccounted For was best at one mile to 1 1/8 miles on dirt, but Refugee was graded stakes-placed on turf and has also produced stakes-placed turf performer Profit. Her great grandmother is Hall of Fame champion Davona Dale, winner of the Filly Triple Crown, and won or finished second in 12 stakes on dirt, seven of them graded, from seven furlongs to 1 1/2 miles.
