ESPN’s coverage of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships from Santa Anita Park is one of six nominees for a Sports Emmy Award in the outstanding live sports special category.
The Breeders’ Cup was held November 6-7 during the Oak Tree meeting at Santa Anita. The event culminated with unbeaten champion Zenyatta’s stirring victory in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) in front of 58,825 fans at the Arcadia, California, track.
The Breeders’ Cup was the only horse racing-related event to receive a nomination.
The 31st Annual Sports Emmy Awards will be handed out on April 26 at the Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City.
