Race Comments: MAN OF IRON was unhurried while racing well back for a mile, rapidly closed the gap while three wide midway on the turn, angled to the inside while rallying inside the quarter pole, made a run to threaten leaving the furlong marker, battled inside CLOUDY'S KNIGHT into deep stretch and prevailed under strong right hand encouragement. CLOUDY'S KNIGHT was rated in hand while in the middle of the pack along the backstretch, moved quickly into contention from outside on the turn, opened a clear advantage nearing the quarter pole, drifted out a bit in upper stretch, dug in when challenged in deep stretch and fought back gamely while yielding grudgingly in the final strides. MASTERY (GB) settled in good position for six furlongs, raced between horses leaving the far turn, made a steady move to reach contention midway on the turn, was carried out a bit at the top of the stretch, battled into midstretch and weakened in the final sixteenth. GANGBUSTER raced four wide while being outrun for a good portion of the way, continued wide leaving the turn and passed mostly tiring horses. MUHANNAK (IRE) raced just off the pace while saving ground for a mile, steadied along the inside behind the tiring pacesetter on the turn, altered course to the outside when blocked at the quarter pole and steadily tired thereafter. FATHER TIME (GB) steadied after being pinched back at the start, was rated in good position on the backstretch, raced just off the pace between horses to the turn and steadily tired thereafter. ELDAAFER failed to mount a serious rally while racing well back for most of the trip. NITE LIGHT pressed the pace in the two path for a mile and steadily tired thereafter. BLACK ASTOR set the pace under mild pressure to the turn and gave way then was eased late. SIR DAVE raced up close while three wide in the early stages, gave way on the far turn and was eased in the stretch.
