Race Comments: FURTHEST LAND tucked in along the rail on the first turn, raced in good position just behind the leaders on the backstretch, checked slightly while awaiting room along the inside leaving the turn, angled between horses at the quarter pole, made a run to challenge inside the sixteenth pole, gained the lead seventy yards out and held off the runner-up under intermittent right hand encouragement. READY'S ECHO was outrun for six furlongs after breaking a bit slowly, launched a bid four wide leaving the turn, was bumped off stride at the top of the stretch, lugged in under left hand urging while gaining steadily in midstretch and finished well while continuing to drifted inward through the final sixteenth. MIDSHIPMAN sprinted clear along the inside, set the pace along the rail to the turn, extended his lead a bit in midstretch, continued on the front into deep stretch and yielded while weakening in the late stages. MASTERCRAFTSMAN (IRE) raced in the middle of the pack while saving ground for six furlongs, closed along the rail on the turn, angled between horses at the quarter pole then rallied belatedly along the inside after moving back to the fence in midstretch. MAMBO MEISTER raced in good position between horses for five furlongs, swung out bumping with READY'S ECHO at the top of the stretch, moved into contention between rivals a furlong out then steadied inside the runner-up while weakening in the late stages. A claim of foul lodged by the rider of MAMBO MEISTER against READY'S ECHO for interference in the stretch was disallowed. NEKO BAY pressed the pace from outside along the backstretch, lodged a bid between horses at the quarter pole and flattened out in midstretch. MR. SIDNEY stalked four wide to the top of the stretch and lacked a strong closing response. CHOCOLATE CANDY failed to mount a serious rally while four wide leaving the turn final turn. BULLSBAY saved ground while gaining a bit on the turn and lacked a late response. PYRO raced between horses for much of the way and lacked the needed response when called upon.
