Race Comments: VALE OF YORK (IRE) broke awkwardly and ducked out at the start, steadied sharply while a bit rank entering the first turn, tucked in along the rail on the backstretch, raced in good position while saving ground for a half, checked along the rail while saving ground on the turn, was trapped along the inside while rallying in upper stretch, altered course outside for room nearing the eighth pole, drifted out while splitting horses a sixteenth out, brushed with the runner-up while gaining in deep stretch and prevailed after a long hard drive. LOOKIN AT LUCKY checked slightly while forced out on the first turn, raced in midpack along the backstretch, tipped out midway on the turn, circled five wide into the stretch, made a run to reach contention in midstretch, brushed with the winner while gaining steadily in deep stretch and just missed in the final strides. NOBLE'S PROMISE steadied along the rail nearing the first turn, moved out along the backstretch, settled just off the pace for five furlongs, rapidly gained while three wide on the turn, charged to the front from outside in upper stretch, continued on the front into deep stretch and yielded to the top pair in the final twenty yards. PISCITELLI sprinted clear on the rail, raced uncontested on the front for five furlongs, dug in leaving the turn, maintained a slim advantage into upper stretch, relinquished the lead nearing the eighth pole and weakened under pressure in the late stages. AIKENITE raced up close from outside in the early stages, dropped back a bit after going a half, regained his best stride while closing the gap on the turn, advanced four wide into the stretch, gained steadily to reach contention a furlong out then steadied in tight behind the winner while weakening in the final sixteenth. BEETHOVEN (IRE) steadied sharply while being bounced around in traffic on the first turn, was shuffled back after going a quarter mile, raced well back for six furlongs, saved ground on the turn, angled between horses at the quarter pole and rallied belatedly. RADIOHEAD (GB) steadied in traffic between horses on the first turn and failed to mount a serious rally thereafter. WILLIAM'S KITTEN was never a factor while wide on final the turn. ESKENDEREYA steadied sharply and took up while being knocked around on the first turn and failed to threaten thereafter. ALFRED NOBEL (IRE) raced in tight along the rail in the early stages and failed to menace while saving ground. PULSION bobbled at the start, steadied in tight between horses on the first turn, raced in midpack within striking distance between rivals for six furlongs and faded on the turn. ASPIRE raced just off the pace for a half, steadied between horses midway on the turn then gave way nearing the quarter pole. D' FUNNYBONE pressed the early pace from outside and gave way on the far turn.
