Flotilla didn’t fire a warning shot across the bow when she pulled off an upset in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. She just unfurled her sails and exploded home to win by a length and a quarter after sitting in mid-pack.
The French-bred miss was one of two Breeders’ Cup winners sired by Mizzen Mast in 2010. His daughter Mizdirection beat up on the boys to capture the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.
Flotilla won two of five starts last year, but has just one win in three starts thus far this year – it’s a big one though. She took the G1 French One Thousand Guineas at Longchamp in May. That was her first start since capturing the Breeders’ Cup last November.
